Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions and information on who we are, what we do and the products we sell.

Who are we?

My name is Phil Scarlett and I've been turning now since 2017, although starting at school but we don't count that bit as it's now seems such a long time ago!

Set up in business sourcing the best possible hand selected blanks, kits and turning products I can find.

Based in Nottingham, UK (Not open to the public)

What is stabilisation?

Stabilisation is a process that involves placing the wood under vacuum and infusing the
wood with resin. This process makes the blanks harder and makes some woods turnable that wouldn't be normally such as soft spalted timber or burrs.
This also gives you peace of mind when turning blanks thin.
Stabilising is time consuming, specialised and can take sometimesup to a week to complete.

All of our stabilised blanks are labeled as such, if they aren't labeled then they won't be stabilised

Can you source and / or stabilised some wood for me?

Anything may be possible so send me a message through the site and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Where do you source from?

We source all of our wood from a network of dealers throughout the U.K. and Europe.

Can you post to worldwide?

This will depend upon where in the world you are and what the item is? The best idea is if at checkout your postage dosen't show then send me a message and I will see what I can do.

My item hasn't turned up? how did you post it?

OK two questions but to answer, most items always turn up eventually very few get lost, saying that the U.K. is in the midst of lots of postal strikes which are causing large delays at peak times.

All items are posted 2nd class as small parcels. 2nd class on a normall day is just as quick as first class so we don't plan to change this but if you needed a special or first class delivery please just ask, anything is possible.

All items from the 12th of Jan 23 sent overseas are now sent fully tracked.
